Yes - clearly need regulations to allow unions to operate, though if workers choose not to unionize, they should not be required to do so. I see both sides of the current issue regarding the Employee Free Choice Act, as far as the card check process, but in general I am more in favor of a secret ballot, under strict government supervision, rather than allowing the unions to get people to sign cards in an open way. Definitely need strict consumer, environmental and regulations and watchdog groups to enforce this.

I am surprised that you express such strong support for free trade and the free market, when you are known for your support of collective bargaining. Surely, you must at least temper your support for the free marker with strong regulations to insure that worker, consumer, and community rights are protected, as well as strong labor laws requiring employers to recognize workers' unions and collective bargaining so that basic working conditions and living wages are not as subject to downward market pressures?
